Forbes expedition mapped the physical geography of Vancouver Island. Highest point: Mt. Arrowsmith at 5900 ft.
Map shows Saltspring Island–originally known as Chuan or Chouan Island. In 1854, it was named Admiral Island by Captain Richardson in honour of Rear Admiral Robert Baynes. Since 1910, officially retitled Saltspring. New Westminster is the capital of B.C. Victoria is the capital of Vancouver Island. |
